Thank you for your interest in joining the volunteer staff at AHT Mission Center Outreach.
Our volunteer onboarding process follows:
1. Complete the Volunteer Intake Form. If you are the guardian of a potential youth volunteer, please complete a Permission Form.
2. Submit form(s) to AHT Mission Center Superintendent (link).
3. Contact Mission Center Outreach Supt. to schedule an in-person meeting to review completed forms and learn more about basic program operations.
4. Read Volunteer Handbook for an understanding of policies and procedures.
5. Complete the mandated online Civil Rights training and sign the on-site attestation form.
6. If you volunteer at either or both AHT Mission Center Food Pantries, you are required to complete the online Food Safety training.
After completing 1-6 above, one of our program site coordinators will contact you to schedule a program- specific orientation to begin your volunteer service at AHT Mission Center.
Thank you for putting your compassion into action, feeding and caring for our neighbors.
We serve anyone in our community or neighboring towns who is experiencing hunger or food insecurity. Right now, the need for hunger relief is urgent. AHT is calling for volunteers to help meet this growing challenge.
AHTMC welcomes volunteers of all ages! We love our youth volunteers and believe everyone in our community benefits when adults/parents and kids volunteer together! Ask us about available opportunities.
Because the health and safety of our guests and staff is our priority, we strictly enforce all federal, state and local health guidelines.
Ways you can help
Monday Morning Muscle Twice a month (Mondays), major deliveries from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York are picked up at a central location and taken to AHT Food Pantry on Grand St, where items are labelled and stocked. Muscle power helps for moving the food, but there’s plenty of lighter work, too. We need volunteers between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. If you’re available on Monday mornings, come and lend a hand! We also need folks to pick up and deliver locally sourced produce and non-perishable food items at other times and locations.
Saturday Morning HT Food Pantry Each Saturday morning, volunteers distribute food at our HT Food Pantry on Grand St. We need volunteers to help set up, fill bags, distribute food, and clean up. Can you spare one morning a month to help feed our neighbors?
Sunday Afternoon Ascension Food Pantry Every first and third Sunday afternoon monthly, volunteers distribute at Ascension Food Pantry on Rte. 9W in West Park. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, distribution, and clean up.
Teri’s Place (Clothes Closet) Teri’s Place is a free clothing center where food pantry guests can “shop” free of charge from among donated clothing and shoes. It’s open on Saturday mornings. Volunteers are needed at other times as well, for sorting and organizing/displaying donations.
Hunger Relief Emergency Delivery Drivers AHT Food pantries are designated 24/7 Emergency Programs. Volunteers deliver groceries in either emergency situations, or for guests who have been determined to be experiencing circumstances that prevent access to adequate nutrition for their households. Volunteers follow all Food Safety Protocols and complete a short training before beginning delivery service.
Site Maintenance Volunteers assist with a variety of safe site maintenance tasks: cleaning, simple repairs, yard work, and other tasks that steward our Mission Center facilities.
Fundsourcing/Fundraising Volunteers who are interested in supporting AHTMC work through fund sourcing, raising funds, or conducting drives for food, personal care, or other material goods are requested to contact Mission Center Director-Coordinator or an Advisory Board Member to arrange review of proposed event. We are grateful for donor generosity and require that all volunteer activities conducted on behalf of the Mission Center are first presented to the Director-Coordinator for approval.
Communications Team AHTMC food pantry and related programs need tech-savvy individuals who can help maintain a basic website for volunteers and manage social media posts and publicity. If you have skills in these areas, we would love to hear from you!
